Replacing an oil boiler with aerothermal in Alt Empordà

Many inland Alt Empordà villages (Peralada, Navata, Llers, Vilasacra, Cabanes) have no natural gas grid. With heating oil at €1.40–1.80/litre (2025), a 150 m² house spends €2,100–4,500/year on heating alone.

An aerothermal heat pump produces 3–5 kWh of heat per 1 kWh of electricity. Annual heating cost drops to €800–1,400 — a saving of €1,500–3,000/year. On a €10,000–15,000 investment, payback is 5–8 years.
