What solar panel subsidies are available in Girona in 2025?
In the province of Girona, and specifically in Alt Empordà, there are various grants that can be combined for the installation of self-consumption photovoltaic solar panels:
1. IDAE grants (Self-consumption and Storage Programme)
The Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE) offers grants of up to 30% of the cost for photovoltaic self-consumption installations. In Catalonia, the management is done by ICAEN (Institut Català d'Energia).
- Detached house: up to €3,000 per kWp installed (maximum 10 kWp)
- Residents' associations: up to €3,000 per kWp (maximum 100 kWp)
- Businesses and commercial activities: up to €2,500 per kWp
2. Income tax (IRPF) deduction for energy improvement
For your primary residence, you can deduct 20% of the investment from income tax if the installation improves energy efficiency (which solar panels always do). Maximum limit: €5,000 deduction per year.
3. Municipal property tax (IBI) reduction
Many Alt Empordà municipalities offer an IBI (property tax) reduction of 30-50% for 5 years for homes that install renewable energy. Check with your local council.
Real example: what do you actually pay?
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Installation cost (5 kWp, 150 m² home) | €8,500 |
| IDAE grant (30%) | – €2,550 |
| Income tax deduction (20%) | – €1,700 |
| Real net cost | €4,250 |
| Annual electricity bill saving | ~€1,100/year |
| Return on investment | ~4 years |
How to apply for the subsidies?
At Enclos Instal we handle the entire subsidy process at no additional cost:
- We prepare the technical project and get it approved by the engineering association
- We submit the grant application to ICAEN before starting the works
- We install the panels and legalise the installation
- We manage the grid connection and surplus energy contract
- We submit the final justification for subsidy payment
The client doesn't have to do any paperwork. We receive the subsidy and discount it directly from the invoice.
Alt Empordà: an ideal zone for solar
The area has an annual solar irradiation of between 1,800 and 2,000 kWh/m², one of the highest in Catalonia. This means a 5 kWp installation in Roses or Figueres will produce around 7,000–8,000 kWh annually, equivalent to almost 80-90% of an average family's electricity consumption.
