Air-to-air heat pump: room-by-room climate control

The air-to-air heat pump (or split inverter) transfers heat between the outside and inside of the house through the air. The indoor unit blows warm air in winter and cool air in summer directly into the room. Current models from Daikin, Panasonic and Mitsubishi Electric achieve efficiencies (COP) of 3.5 to 5.0.

Air-to-water heat pump: complete aerothermal

The air-to-water heat pump (aerothermal) transfers heat from the air to an indoor water circuit. Brands such as Daikin Altherma, Panasonic Aquarea, Vaillant aroTHERM plus and De Dietrich Alezio represent the current reference technology, with SCOP up to 4.8 under ideal conditions.
